WalkSmart Mobility Assessment

WalkSmart | Mobility analysis

How much time do you spend thinking about your mobility? We walk around daily and only really think about our bones and joints when something starts feeling wrong. Over 8 million people in the UK suffer from hip or knee osteoarthritis and it can be a difficult condition to manage if you don’t understand your muscle and bone health. With a WalkSmart assessment, you can understand the quality of your walk and receive a personalised report with tailored exercises to help improve your gait, build muscle and leave you walking freely and confidently.

How does it work?

Initial appointment

We analyse your gait using GaitSmart. This advanced technology can measure the details of your walk in just 10-15 strides. Six wireless sensors are attached to your legs to record the motion of you walking. This will then produce a report and an overall score to summarise the stability and strength of your walk. This innovative technology looks at your whole leg and can suggest exercises to improve on any issues that are discovered*. The appointment will take 15 minutes and you will receive the report instantly.

Follow-up

You will be given suggested exercises to make improvements to any issues that are found during your assessment. If you want to check on how you are progressing you can book a follow-up appointment for 4-6 weeks in the future to see if you have made beneficial improvements.

Why should I book a WalkSmart assessment?

WalkSmart is a great way for everyone to understand they’re mobility and muscular-skeletal health. If you are feeling any discomfort when walking in your legs or lower back then this may help you to understand what’s causing the problem. Additionally, this can also act as a preventative measure. By gaining a deeper understanding of your lower limbs you can make sure you are doing everything you can to prevent any future issues. A WalkSmart assessment is suitable for anyone over the age of 18 and the earlier you start thinking about your mobility, the better you can safe guard it for the future.

What is your gait?

A gait is the manner or pattern of movement by which a person walks, runs, or otherwise moves on foot. It refers to the specific way in which the limbs, particularly the legs, are coordinated during movement. Your Gait can be influenced by various factors, including your anatomy, health and age.

How much is a WalkSmart assessment?

Your initial appointment will cost £45 and you can book a follow-up to see how your gait has improved for £30.
